Manchester United

Alex Ferguson's team have had an indifferent start to the campaign so far. They have been able to churn out results without reaching the level of performance the Old Trafford faithful demand. United are, traditionally slow starters, so there is no need for over-concern yet. While most experts predicted that United would struggle in the final third of the pitch with the departures of Christiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, it has been their defence which has looked a little weak in the first few weeks of the season. Ben Foster has looked unsure of himself, with Rio Ferdinand unable to put a consistent run of games together due to long-standing injury problems. United fans will be hoping that Ferdinand can recover soon, so he and Vidic can recreate the partnership which has been the backbone of United's success over the past couple of seasons. While up front, it is essential for United that Dimitar Berbatov continues his recent scoring form to supplement Rooney's goals.
